eSPORTconf Ukraine 2017: how did the main eSports business conference of the country proceed?

On February 22, Ukraine’s first eSports business conference eSPORTconf Ukraine 2017 was held on the territory of Parus business center.

Event attracted attention of active industry participants as well as many businessmen that just got interested in integrating the market. Visitors were mainly lawyers, bookmakers, software developers, mass media representatives and potential investors. There were also members of eSports organizations that occupied various positions. In total, around 250 people participated in the event.

12 speakers presented at eSPORTconf Ukraine 2017.

The history, present state and prospects of Ukrainian eSports were highlighted by Gennadiy Veselkov – owner of ASUS CyberZone club and gameinside.ua portal, experienced eSports journalist and organizer. Speaker also touched a very acute problem – lack of intermediate stages between professionals and amateurs in the industry as well as events where eSportsmen could improve their skills.

Arseniy Salay and Ivan Bulavka – event organizer and head of digital projects at FC Dynamo Kyiv’s eSports division respectively – told about plans of the organization to promote eSports football in Ukraine. Presentation was attended by Vitaly «labotryas» Mukha, FIFA eSportsman that will be playing for the club now.

Speakers discussed the connection between eSports and traditional sports and announced two amateur eSports football tournaments under the auspices of FC Dynamo Kyiv. One of them will be held as part of WEGAME 3.0 on April 8-9.

Sofiia Dunaievskaya shared cases of promoting HyperX brand in the eSports media market of the CIS region. Speaker revealed the subtleties of efficient cooperation with video bloggers and eSports celebrities.

Dias Ismailov gave a presentation on the state of global and local eSports betting, shared up-to-date market statistics.

Irina Sergienko started and finished her presentation with a question: “Who believes that eSports must be acknowledged an official discipline in Ukraine?” Specializing in sports law, speaker specified the main advantages and disadvantages of such legalization, providing the audience with rich food for thought and discussions.

Natalya Larchenko shared experience in managing an eSports team, mentioning Gambit Esports club as an example, which is among global top 10 CS:GO teams.

Three more managers of professional eSports teams, that contain Ukrainian eSportsmen, presented at the conference. Management experience was shared by:

Presentation of Nikolay Roginets introduced visitors to advantages of YouTube as a platform for monetizing professional and amateur eSports. Ivan Danishevsky shared his opinion about forecasts of eSports analysts and described the real state of industry in Ukraine.

Conference was closed by the presentation of Pavel Cherepin. Having huge experience in traditional sports and being well familiar with video games market, speaker made a detailed comparison of these industries. He also noted that the main advantage of eSports over traditional sports can safely be called the absence of human factor influence on the ecosystem.

Demo zone

Exhibition zone of eSPORTconf Ukraine 2017 featured booths from DXRacer and Kulik System, companies that produce upmarket chairs for gamers and businessmen. The first company organized a lottery during the event with DXRacer OH/RE21/NY Na'Vi chair being the prize. The second company prepared gift money certificates for conference speakers.

AnimaUnity’s stand has also been showcased to the public. This eSports team is searching for the talented players for their further training and promotion.

Demo zone also featured booths from competitive gaming platform ELOPLAY, eSports organization Gamesys Club and advertising agency ZLODEI. Moreover, team members of ZLODEI agency, Alexander Glukh and Vitaliy Derevyanko, became conference moderators.

Conference was organized by international event company Smile-Expo that actively supports industry business in the CIS and European countries. In March, the company will hold an eSports business conference eSPORTconf Poland 2017  in Warsaw.
